Questions for the Zeitgeist- June 18, 2006

1- Are we ready for Ms. Jackson's new single with Nelly, "Call On Me"? Does is sound "laid-back" or "BORING?
1a-Is Beyonce's single with Jay-Z, "Deja Vu", what we really wanted from Janet?

2- Will Frederic Rouzand (managing director of Louis Roderer Cristal champagne), by characterizing hip-hop's consumption of its most popular spirit as "unwanted attention", be solely responsible for its stock price plummeting- now that Jay-Z is leading a boycott? Who will be "poppin Cris" now?

3- Why would ANYBODY want to deal with THIS all day long from their baby's momma?

4- Not taking anything away from Al Gore's current theatrical release, but...Given the affirmative action-killing laws recently passed in California preventing universities from considering race in their admissions process, isn't the fact that ONLY 98 black applicants will be incoming freshman at diversity-challenged UCLA REALLY "An Inconvenient Truth"?

5- Where in the HELL is Toni Braxton?

6- He burst on the scene in the 90's by becoming the youngest tailor- black or otherwise- to open up shop on London's Savile Row. He has outfitted everyone from Will Smith to Mick Jagger to Seal to David Bowie to Jamie Foxx. He has taken the reigns as creative director at the legendary French Emporium Givenchy. Now he is poised to be THE British invasion of 2006 with his new show on the Sundance channel "House of Boateng". Are people FINALLY going to stop sleeping on bespoke menswear designer Ozwald Boateng?

7- What's the FIRST thing Lil' Kim will do once she's released from "the Fed"?

8- Whatever happened to 80's UK supergroup (and Jackson 5 knock-off) Five Star?

Can't say I enjoy Beyonce's new single from Austin Power's Goldmemb.. er' Pink Panth.. no', um' hasn't she done that song before?

Janet's is ok, not much for a single though, needed something more upbeat, and could have followed up with this.

I like your point about affirmative action. It's a shame what the UC systemhas become but I guess that's progress.
